Twitter Blackout: To Tweet Or Not To Tweet On January 28

Social media users are planning to unite in a Twitter-wide boycott of the website on January 28 as a way to protest against the social network’s possible compliance with the government to censor tweets. The upcoming online blackout rally is happening fresh off the heels of Twitter’s Thursday announcement that the platform is now capable of blocking tweets and individual accounts in certain countries.

The hashtag #TwitterBlackout is trending heavily so far. Can silencing tweets stop potential social media censorship from moving forward? Let’s see what the little blue birdies are saying.
