‘Craigslist Joe’ Trailer: Can One Man Survive Off Of Support From Craigslist Ads? (VIDEO)
Some say we’ve lost the sense of community that used to carry us through tough times. Some say technology and social media fuel this isolation.
The new documentary, Craigslist Joe, follows one man’s journey over 31 December days and nights to see if he can survive solely through the support of “the 21st century’s new town square: Craigslist.”
Armed with only a laptop, cell phone, toothbrush, and the clothes on his back, Joseph Garner, 29, began his journey across America, relying on Craigslist ads to provide for transportation, food, shelter, and companionship. Garner (along with his cameraman) searches for first-hand evidence to disprove the opening quote and show that community has not been destroyed but merely transformed by Internet culture and connection.
Backed by Executive Producer Zach Galifianakis, Garner directs his documentary, set to be released on iTunes and in select theaters on August 3rd, 2012.
Tell us what you think. Can social media ultimately be used as a force of communal good, bringing us together in a seemingly disjointed world?
