Kermit & The Muppets Support You, Not Chick-Fil-A
This picture, under the link “Kermit Supports You!” found its way onto the front page of Reddit today.
The image follows the Muppets’ bold pull from any ties with Chick-Fil-A after Dan Cathy, president of the fast food chain, stated to the Baptist Press that he and his company advocate “the biblical definition of the family unit,” ruling out support of same-sex marriages.
In response to the controversy, The Jim Henson Company, which previously offered its Muppet characters as toys in Chick-fil-A’s meals for kids, posted on its Facebook page:
The Jim Henson Company has celebrated and embraced diversity and inclusiveness for over fifty years and we have notified Chick-Fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors. Lisa Henson, our CEO is personally a strong supporter of gay marriage and has directed us to donate the payment we received from Chick-Fil-A to GLAAD. (http://www.glaad.org/)
Since it hit Facebook on Friday, the post has been Liked over 11,000 times and shared over 5,000 times.
