Mesmerizing Nine-Month Time Lapse of Civic Arena Deconstruction (VIDEO)

Downton Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania’s Civic Arena, a.k.a. “The Igloo,” was dismantled this past year, no longer serving as the home to the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins.

GarrisonHughes Senior Designer & Production Artist, Dan Yazvac, used a hand-held camera and Photoshop to process and compile over 250 images of the site throughout the nine-month long demolition process.

Despite protestation from a group called Preservation Pittsburgh, the SEA awarded a $2.9 million contract to Noralco Corp. of Penn Hills to demolish the arena, which was about to celebrate its 50th birthday.
