Tweeps React To DirecTV Dropping Viacom Channels
DirecTV has quite the mess on its hands, especially on social media, where people have complained, joked and tweeted other responses after the satellite TV provider dropped a number of Viacom channels, including MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, BET and TV Land. The decision was a result of a failed agreement between the Viacom and DirectTV. As AJC.com reports, this translates to about 20 million subscribers with 17 fewer channels in their programming packages. Both companies have released statements, and in a video recorded for their website, DirectTV seems to be blaming Viacom. “Rest assured, both sides will come to an agreement, so please ignore any of their scare tactics,” said DirecTV CEO Mike White in a video.
Viacom created similar videos, responding to the fiasco using characters from shows featured on Viacom channels.
But of course it’s the consumers who had the best responses. And here’s a collection of some of the funniest DirecTV-Viacom related tweets. (Sidenote: a lot of tweeps misspelled “DirecTV” using “Direct TV” but that’s cool cause we knew what they meant.)

Why’s everyone mad about this DirecTV thing? They still have PBS, and there’s no Mary Moo Cow. Win-win.

If you ever want to get the youth of America to rally behind a cause, just have Direct TV take away their MTV and Nickelodeon.

This Viacom/DirecTV dispute highlights how lame it is that in this day & age, we can’t pick the channels we want/don’t want.

If someone you love is a DirecTV customer, please stop by and let them know what’s going on with Snooki as they have no MTV due to dispute.
