Renegade Raging Grannies Sing About Legitimate Rape
Be warned: The Raging Grannies are NSFW.
“Legitimate rape” is great birth control
So says Todd Akin and he oughta know
If we are raped we can rest unafraid
‘Cause we can’t get pregnant if forcibly laid
Feisty musical group the Renegade Raging Grannies have some words for Todd Akin, the Missouri Senate nominee who recently apologized for using the phrase “legitimate rape” on television, while trying to make a point about abortion.
They were decidedly so unamused by the Representative’s talk show gaffe that they needed to express it in sing-song.
According to the Raging Grannies’ website, “You’ve come to the right place if you’re looking for a song to express your outrage about all of those things that threaten our grandchildren’s futures — pollution, militarism, greed, ‘isms and more.”
Aside from the obvious humorous elements of this video, the Grannies also show off their more subtle comedic chops by taking the tune of classic, feel-good song “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah” and setting it to lyrics about rape.
