Flying Over Burning Man – First Person View Aerial Tour
YouTube channel ExperimentalAirlines uploaded the above video of a clear flight over Black Rock City while Burning Man 2012 was well under way.
The footage was shot in “First Person View” or FPV, which is accomplished via a radio controlled aircraft using a video image that can be transmitted wirelessly from the plane to a viewing station on the ground. In this case, our YouTuber used video goggles.
“This allows safe operation of a small, quiet, electric airplane while taking high-definition video while piloting the plane as if one were sitting in the cockpit,” the caption said.
While this filmmaker believes that “trying to explain what Burning Man is to someone who has never been to the event is a bit like trying to explain what a particular color looks like to someone who is blind,” perhaps his video gives a unique glimpse into and over the annual event of total self-expression and lack of inhibition.
