Confused Radio Caller Thinks Deer Crossing Signs Are For the Deer, Not the Drivers

Newspapers and TV stations weren’t giving Donna’s serious complaint the publicity and attention that it deserved, so she took to calling into Fargo, North Dakota’s Y94 Playhouse radio station so that her voice could finally be heard.

After having been in three separate car accidents involving deer, Donna noticed a pattern. They all occurred shortly after she saw a deer crossing sign on the highway.

“My frustration is that Minnesota and North Dakota departments of transportation would allow these deer crossings to be in such high traffic areas,” she says to the radio host. “Why are we encouraging deer to cross at the interstate?”

The host (and viewers) respond, “Are you kidding?”

The host then has the responsibility of explaining to his concerned caller that the signs are for the people and not, in fact, for the deer, who probably have no idea what the signs mean.
