Jimmy Wong Teases His Favorite Episodes of “VGHS” Season 2 While Playing Mario Kart 64
First, Ethan asks, if there was an actual high where he could play video games, what would be Jimmy’s major? “I used to play the bamboozles out of World of Warcraft when I was a kid,” he says. “So it would probably be that.”
For now, he embraces the opportunity to be a part of creating that fictional world in which high school meshes with gaming. Jimmy points to some favorite moments of filming, including going on location for the “Skyrim” scenes – referred to as such because they take place in a Skyrim-esque universe.
But he’s mostly excited for episode 5 to launch. It’s the holiday episode in which VGHS celebrates every holiday at the same time. And that episode was balls to the wall insane,” he teases.
With Netflix’s original “House of Cards” series being nominated for a number of Emmys, more and more viewers are looking to the Internet for quality entertainment. “It means that people that, even if they don’t really know what the net stuff is, their eyes are starting to sort of shift focus and look at what’s happening here,” Jimmy says of the “House of Cards” success. However, he still points to money as a major issue for online content creators.
“I don’t want to talk down on the Streamys and the web-based awards, but really, the big attention is on the Emmys and those prizes,” he says. “I think the important thing to realize is that, even thought the tides are shifting, it’s not a complete shift yet, because money is still a big issue for a lot of web content creators.”
Sean chimes in with his support. “It just takes one,” Sean says. “It takes one really huge hit, which I think you guys have, to do that.”
“I really hope that we pave the way for more people to actually start making their own long form content,” Jimmy adds. “Because that was really what was important to me.” As a creator, Jimmy is a fan of short form video. In fact, he just finished shooting a music video for his brother Freddie’s channel. But there’s still a need for lengthier stories to be told online. ”I think that kind of content has a specific place and it’s really awesome,” he says of short form, “but I wish more long form content in general.”
