  • On August 10, YouTuber vskbadcrc uploaded this slow mo video of an Olympic synchronized swimmer dramatically emerging from the water, aided by some creepy sound effects. Over the weekend, the video, generously titled “Olympic Godzilla,” shot up to over 3 million views.

The Huffington Post identified the Olympian as Canadian synchronized swimmer, Marie-Pier Boudreau Gagnon. The short video above represents just a portion of her whimsical duet routine, “The Jester,” performed with Elise Marcotte.

While the routine was said to have been inspired by carnival themes from Cirque du Soleil, the Internet seems determined to remember it as a tribute to one of Japan’s most famous exports — Godzilla.
