Florida teacher Chris Ulmer starts his class in a radically different way, telling students about how they are an asset to his classroom.
Ulmer spends the first 10 minutes of the day complimenting his special education class, noting that as a result students confidence and self-worth have been boosted significantly.
Ulmer teaches at the Mainspring Academy in Jacksonville, Florida, and has been posting videos to both Facebook and YouTube with parents permission.
Ulmer is currently working on a book about his students, focusing on the story of each child told collaboratively by the child themselves and their parents.
