  • It never fails, moms — you make your husband take care of the baby, you turn your back for five minutes and the next thing you know there’s a viral meme about stacking Cheerios on your kid’s face.

Just in time for Father’s Day, we have the dorkiest dad joke to ever grace the internet courtesy of Patrick Quinn, the social media guy from parenting website Life of Dad, who got bored one day when his 3-week-old son Maxton fell asleep in his lap and trapped him on the couch.

Noticing a bowl of dry Cheerios nearby, he wondered if he could balance one of them on the baby’s nose. Then he tried two. Then he was onto something.

“I’d take a picture but then I’d start laughing and it’d topple over,” he told CNN. “So I’d start again, take a picture and it’d topple over. The highest I got to is five.” How the baby didn’t wake up and start crying with Cheerios gently toppling on his face is a minor miracle

Dads around the world immediately took this as a challenge and swooped down on their sleeping babies armed with cereal. Some of them managed to stack as many as 20 Cheerios — the trick is apparently sorting through the cereal to find the flattest ones, and making sure you don’t laugh while you’re stacking. Others decided to get creative.

It’s become such a thing, the official Cheerios Twitter account has joined in.
