John Oliver interviews General Keith Alexander, former head of the NSA. General Alexander discusses Edward Snowden and helps John rebrand a national security organization.
“Is it a matter of getting the needle by collecting the haystack?” Oliver asks, “But then also some pictures of the farmer’s wife in the shower?”
Alexander maintains that the NSA wants to protect people and civil liberties, but they can’t separate the bad guys from the good guys. Oliver thinks he means Pinterest, but Alexander hasn’t seen that.
“That’s what you haven’t seen? As director of the NSA? So that’s where terrorists could have been hiding this whole time,” he asks.
