If you were ever curious why, the Slow Mo Guys are here to break down the science of why putting water on a grease fire is a terrible idea.

    Water and oil don’t mix. When grease is burning, any water will pass right through it and land on the surface underneath. If that surface is, say, a hot pan, the water will instantly evaporate, launching burning grease into the air. The fiery results are captured in glorious slow-motion in the above video.
