  • Don’t blame us. We voted for Kodos.

  • Just days after voicing his strong support for making bears pay the Bear Tax, Republican presidential candidate and heavy Dapper Dan user Ted Cruz made a Buzzfeed video showing off some of his best “Simpsons” impressions.

Well, some of his “Simpsons” impressions.

This includes performing quotes from Mr. Burns, Lisa, Homer, even the pair of villainous aliens from Rigel VII, Kang and Kodos, seemingly from memory.

Cruz has actually discussed his love of “The Simpsons” before, and even this specific Kang and Kodos episode he mentioned to Buzzfeed. (It’s personally relatable for him. The scene in question – part of a “Treehouse of Horror” anthology – finds the aliens running for President of the United States.)

When he brought it up back in April, though, Cruz misquoted the line as “twirling into the future.” In the Buzzfeed version, he gets it right: “twirling for freedom.”

As for the impressions themselves… eh, they could maybe be better. He can’t really hold a candle to YouTuber Brock Baker, who earned 600,000 views on his own Simpsons impression compilation back in May.

  • But I think we can all agree, it’s strange to live in a time where “The Simpsons” has been on long enough to influence actual candidates for President. Can’t wait for the day that, rather than even having a debate, the candidates will just trade their favorite lines from “Uncle Grandpa.”
