If you’ve been on Facebook over the weekend, you’ve likely seen it – a soaked, gasping Irish reporter bellowing about safety measures during Storm Desmond, right before she gets smashed by a flyaway stop sign.

The stop sign part is fake, fortunately, but the original footage of reporter Teresa Mannion is no less dramatic.

“Don’t make unnecessary journeys!” she shouts over the wind, gasping for breath. “Don’t take risks on treacherous roads! And don’t swim in the sea! Incredibly, people have been spotted in the water here in Blackrock and Salt Hill, both today and yesterday!”

Her report inspired this aforementioned video which blew up on Facebook over the weekend.

  • The newly internet famous Ms. Mannion had this to say about her viral experience:

Ah lord, I’ve got 3,000 new people following me on Twitter, it has just been a mad experience, unreal. And thankfully there have been very few negative responses….

I’m like some mad woman on the prom. You have to understand the rain was absolutely bucketing down, it was literally like someone was throwing a bucket of water over me.
