With all the craziness of the Republican presidential race this year, the days when we were raging over George W. Bush seem downright rational in comparison. So it was the perfect time for Will Ferrell’s Bush impression to make its triumphant return to Saturday Night Live.

President Bush appeared on SNL to announce that he was entering the race for a third term. “The field of Republicans out there is so messed up, I figured it makes you miss me, right? And that’s saying a lot.”

Sounds crazy and sort of unconstitutional – but a look at the current frontrunners makes it seem like not the worst idea. From Ben Carson (“I got news for him – running the country is not brain surgery. Trust me, I know.”) to Rubio and Cruz (“Sounds like a Miami law firm”) and of course Donald Trump (uncontrollable laughter), things are looking a bit desperate.

There was also the awkward issue of Bush’s brother Jeb (Jeb!). “You gotta admit, it’s a pretty good plot twist that I turned out to be the smart one.”
