  • If you’re fed up with touchy-feely commercials about hipsters, you’ll enjoy this spoof video which invites artistic types in Brooklyn and Silver Lake to get over themselves.

“You are not average,” the voiceover says, as young scruffy people dance in paint, take Instagram pictures of doors and strum ukuleles. “You are not a cog in a wheel. You make little projects and splash paint on things. And that makes you an individual.

“Sure, lobbyists are rewriting banking legislation and making a ton of money that should go to teachers, but that doesn’t make you any less of a precious snowflake.”

The idea is that hipsters spend all their free time making kazoo orchestras and goofing off with their iPhones instead of focusing on things like world events and politics. “What’s really important is you, being happy with your little bullshit!”

“Grow the fuck up,” the video ends in cute white letters. “Love, Adults.”

The video was created by Comedy Central editor Steven Rosenthal and standup comedian Peggy O’Brien, who like to spend their free time making snarky YouTube videos. Here’s another little project they did about Wes Anderson and brunch.
