We’ve seen (overly? refreshingly?) honest ads before. Cracked.com has a whole series of them — the Black Friday honest ad being our favorite. Those ads, though, are mostly comedy sketches. Enter Desmound Logan of Cash Cars KC with the real thing.
In a video titled with the hashtag #HONESTCARSALES, Logan lays down the law about what exactly he’s selling, what he expects, and what you should expect from him. In short: as-is (or, in Logan’s words, “as the F*CK is”) means as-is. Here are a few choice quotes:
-
On what you should do with your test drive:
“Put some gas in the motherf*cker and take your test drive to your job! Drive the bitch to your parking spot, smoke you a joint, smoke you a blunt, smoke you a cigarette, drink your coffee, play with the windows, figure out what the f*ck you gonna do with this car.”
-
On getting what you pay for:
“You come with a thousand dollars, trust and believe you’re gonna have a thousand dollar car. Something is not gonna work right.”
-
On doing your homework:
“F*ck your radio, f*ck your windows, f*ck your seat, f*ck your heat, f*ck your air if it don’t work because you should’ve tried that sh*t out before you motherf*cking bought it.”
-
Logan admits that Cash Cars KC is “your last resort” to buy a car, and repeatedly stresses the importance of bringing cash. The honesty is refreshing. Though Cash Cars KC might not be the best place to buy a car, at least they’re not one of those shady auto lenders that end up costing buyers thousands more than the cars are worth. (John Oliver’s segment about such lenders is a must-watch.)
Logan’s video was posted over a month ago, but first got attention when posted to Reddit recently, where it reached the front page. This is not the first time, however, that Logan’s had a video blow up. That honor would go to this equally honest commercial about special deals on Cadillacs:
