Harry Potter Is Helping Americans Cope With Election Results

If the reality of Trump’s impending presidency has not hit you yet, don’t worry. You’re definitely not alone. Just moments after he was elected, riots and protests ensued across the country, proving that Americans are not only unhappy, but fearful of what is come in the next four years.

Leading up to the election, Trump was made the center of many social media jokes. Twitter users, specifically, always got a kick out of the SNL Baldwin sketches, and spared no expense when it came to creating memes — both the light, fun variety, and more mean-spirited ones.

Harry Potter fans were notorious for comparing the book/film series to important happenings throughout the election, and now that it’s over, are looking towards the franchise for words of comfort.

Not all responses to the election were so serious, however. Some Harry Potter fans were optimistic about the results and encouraged everyone to bind together like Dumbledore’s Army to defeat the common enemy (AKA Trump).

Everyone is handling the news differently, but I’m optimistic that we will adapt and (hopefully) survive the next four years.
