  • Tattoo artist Phil Berge has a unique way of creating tattoos — he turns them into tiny flip-books by tattooing animations on people’s arms! It’s very cool— the customer at the tattoo shack in Quebec where he works come in and he tattoos in one frame at a time and uploads his efforts onto YouTube. There’s a commercial for wine, there’s Bart Simpson on his skateboard, and there’s even a baby crying from a Popeye cartoon. Phil put audio under some of them and the results are transcendent. • Would you come in to a tattoo parlor just to get one frame of an animation drawn on your arm? It’s a tall order, right? What if it’s a frame just of Bart Simpson blinking or something? What a waste that would be! Unless you could point to it and go — “This is Bart Simpson, but he is blind to the truth of things” or something like that. I don’t know. I just know I’d want one of the frames of that baby.
