An awkward scene unfolded during President Obama’s speech on immigration reform on Friday in the Rose Garden after a reporter interrupted the President as he spoke.
The reporter, identified by other reporters present at the speech as Neil Munro of The Daily Caller, attempted to ask a question mid-speech during the address at the White House. Obama appeared unsettled, and asked the reporter to allow him to finish his statements before he asks questions.
Soon after the incident, The Daily Caller released a statement in regards to Munro’s action, and included statements from Munro himself and the editor-in-chief and publisher of The Daily Caller, who defended their reporter. Munro tweeted the statement via his Twitter account (@NeilMunroDC).
The terms “Daily Caller,” “Neil Munro,” and “Rose Garden” were all worldwide trending topics on Friday afternoon. Several people spoke out on Twitter, including those who felt Munro was being disrespectful; some people even responded to Munro's tweet with @ replies, most of which were negative.
