YouTube channel NOC — the guys responsible for the Jeremy Lin/Gotye parody — have created another viral video about a media-hyped recognized team rivalry. That is, the fight for the gold between USA Olympic swimmers Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte. This time, it’s all done to the backdrop of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.”

Considering the video was uploaded on July 28, it looks like it hit the Internet just before Lochte actually beat Phelps in the IM race on Saturday, winning the first gold medal for the US at the 2012 Olympics and shocking a nation of Phelps supporters who were used to his record-breaking gold medal wins.

You’d think it might fizzle out, but “Call Me Maybe” continues to provide the perfect canvas for parody songs, with many emerging around top news items such as this one. To catch up on the most viral CRJ videos, check out the What’s Trending Ultimate Viral “Call Me Maybe” Mash Up.
