Downton Abbey will return to British television in September 2012, and while Americans have to wait until PBS airs the serial drama in January 13, stateside viewers can still be keen to all of the spoilers and sneak peeks surfacing online.
While it's not an official trailer, the new footage above includes some major teases about what's to come at the Downton estate, including Shirley MacLaine's arrival as Lady Cora's (Elizabeth McGovern) American mother, Lord Grantham's (Hugh Bonneville) imminent financial ruin, Anna's (Joanne Froggatt) attempts to rescue Mr. Bates (Brendan Coyle) from an unjust fate, and the obstacles that Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) and her fiancee Matthew (Dan Stevens) will face on the road to betrothal.
And never to be overlooked, the Dowager Countess, portrayed by the incomparable Dame Maggie Smith, is back with her famous sarcastic bite and witty one-liners.
The clips were first unveiled by Downton writer Julian Fellowes and producer Gareth Neame on July 31 at the Creative Content Summit's panel session on The Great British Drama.
