  • Yes, Queen frontman Freddie Mercury has already been immortalized through his legendary contributions to rock music, but being animated as an Angry Bird is still a pretty remarkable tribute here in 2012.

Since the rock star passed away from HIV in 1991, the Freddie for a Day campaign has rolled around each year on his birthday, September 5, encouraging fans and supporters to don their best Freddie get-ups in an effort to raise money and awareness for AIDS charity, The Mercury Phoenix Trust.

Providing its own contribution to the annual event, Angry Birds creator Rovio Entertainment has produced a Freddie Mercury-inspired Bird Queen character and released a special edition Freddie Mercury T-shirt, with a portion of the proceeds going towards the Mercury Phoenix Trust.
