  • Buzz Bishop posted an exciting video of one of the greatest junior hockey traditions of all time: The Annual Teddy Bear Toss, which is a real thing. The setup is pretty simple. For one game during the holiday season, spectators collectively bring 25,000 stuffed animal bears into the venue and chuck them onto the ice once the home team scores.

But it’s not all just a waste of cotton and fleeting good fun. As Deadspin reports, the bears are cleaned up and donated to local hospitals and charities.

In this particular Calgary Hitmen game, which can be seen in full on YouTube, a total of 21,453 bears hit the ice.
