Women Across The Globe Embrace The Hairy Leg Movement

What better time than summer time to show off those freshly unshaven legs? Yes, that’s right: unshaven.

A new movement to embrace the au-natural body is underway. Women everywhere are saying goodbye to their razors and hello to hairy legs. The Internet is beginning to flood with images of fuzzy legs around the world as the trend catches on.

By ditching the wax, women break what has become a gender norm. This in turn has led to a variety of social commentary from establishing a beauty regiment not governed by society’s standards to abolishing the patriarchy’s ideas of what a woman should and should not do. Other women are simply happy to not have to go through the hassle of shaving on a daily basis, though they still feel the social pressure to conform.

Regardless of the reason, women are proudly posting photos of their unshaven legs on all sorts of social media. Don’t believe this is actually a thing? Not shaving has found a niche in Tumblr through “Very Hairy Legs” and “Women Against Non-Essential Grooming (WANG).”

While making the decision to not shave may not be for everybody, those who are not shaving are certainly garnering respect. You grow, girl!
