Boy With Leukemia Becomes Godzilla

The city of Chicago is now home to the star of a new Godzilla movie. Meet Maddex, whose childhood passion for Godzilla – a passion he shares with both his father and grandfather – is manifesting itself thanks to the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Thanks to the help of a Chicago production studio, 100 volunteer extras, and wish-granters, Maddex is returning to his happy, upbeat self after having been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

“This experience is shaping this five-year-old boy in so many ways and who knows what we’ll see 10, 15, 20 years down the road when we touch base with Maddex,” Stephanie Springs, CEO of Make-A-Wish Illinois, told ABC News. “Right now we know it’s going to help him pull through the rest of his treatments.”
