This video, from the Democrat & Chronicle, features 77-year-old Willie Murphy, a grandmother who has pushed herself to the physical limits of most human beings, let alone senior citizens.
She weighs 105 pounds, but can deadlift 215. She recently won the World Natural Powerlifting Federation's 2014 Lifter of the Year, though she only works out three days a week.
All this is to say, your genetics are just inferior. I mean, think about it. There have been times in your life when you've worked out three times a week, right? And what were the results? Sure, you lost a little weight. Might have even felt good about yourself and your future for a little while. But, you couldn't keep it up. By the time February rolled around, it was back to your old habits, and those 15 pounds were back and ready to mingle.
Maybe if you had Willie Murphy's genetic code, you'd 1) show greater signs of physical progress and 2) be a natural optimist. But you're neither of those things. This is probably one of 20 tabs you have open right now, and you're just idling the minutes away until you get to go home.
Of course, it doesn't have to be this way. Not by any stretch. Why not go for a run tonight? What would be the harm? Your DVR'd episodes of Chicago Fire will still be there when you get home. Give it a shot, for pete's sake.
