  • Finding people with a gift is what America’s Got Talent was created for, and that’s exactly what they found in deaf singer Mandy Harvey. Performing an original song “try,” which Harvey wrote about doing more with her life than giving up because of the hardships she’s been through, she brought the audience to their feet. Her performance was so moving, it earned her a gold buzzer from Simon Cowell.

Harvey has a connective tissue disorder that caused her to get sick and her nerves to deteriorate when she was 18. When she lost her hearing, she gave up singing for a while but found her passion for it again when she realized she wanted more in life. Her story and tenacity are enough to inspire us all but the moment she sings and her pure talent shines through. She even takes off her shoes so she can feel the vibrations of the music through her bare feet.

Her performance was one of the best I’ve seen on America’s Got Talent, and I can’t wait to see her live performances. What do you guys think? Were you as moved as I was? Let us know in the comments or @whatstrending on Twitter!
