  • Although prior teasers existed, the first official trailer featuring actual footage from the film released today has been met with huge reactions across the web.

  • Award-winning Tumblr behemoth Pop Culture Brain had this to say:

This looks about as I expected it to. Totally bland and forced. At least it’s got a Beyonce song?

The comment sparked an outpouring of responses from other, seemingly more BDSM-informed Tumblr users.

  • souvriralabonnepersonne:

Because the Fifty Shades of Grey novel wasn’t already detrimental to the BDSM community, we need a movie.

  • congenitalprogramming:

I wish I could erase this from the universe. Queue a new rash of people getting blood clots from using zipties for bondage after never researching anything.

  • aduspro:

    HAHAHA.

There is already a 50 Shades of Grey movie out called Secretary [2002], and it stars James Spader and Maggie Gyllenhaal. I am not saying that it’s perfect and there are definitely some interesting issues (read the original short story for the contrast), but it magnitudes more entertaining and better put together than 50 Shades of Grey.

But, I have to say, hubba hubba Jamie Dornan. I quite like the “Crazy in Love” reprise as well.

  • voteforvoldemort:

This is exactly as I pictured it when I read the first book. As bad and as vanilla

  • woookelsey:

looks like a lifetime movie, just like I expected. Also- god Danny Elfman must be hard up if he’s scoring movies like this

  • kinkycrop:

I am both pissed off and amused to death because of this. Lexi, we will hate-watch this movie back and forth. And it will involve a lot of alcohol.

  • Us, on the Whatstrending Tumblr. (BTW: Are you following us over there yet? You should.)

Bland and forced? You mean to tell me that a Hollywood movie depicting the kinds of BDSM fantasized about by Twilight fan-fiction writers rather than actual BDSM practitioners comes across bland and forced?

I’m feigning my surprise as hard as I can right now.
