‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’ Trailer Is Super Explodey!

The final film in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy will be in theaters on December 17, and we now have the official trailer to try and pick apart exactly how much story is packed into this thing. Here’s the description from Warner Bros:

“The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves. Having reclaimed their homeland from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world. Enraged, Smaug rains his fiery wrath down upon the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town.

What started out as a simple story about taking a Hobbit on an adventure is now another Middle Earth epic likely to get close to the three-hour mark. Smaug does not appear in the trailer, but we get a lot of intense posturing by dwarves, as well as Legolas, Galadriel, and a birds-eye view of some sweeping battles.

I already feel sick from all the popcorn I will be eating.
