Matthew McConaughey is an Oscar winner and Richard Linklater might be getting close — his film Boyhood just won Best Picture - Drama at the 2015 Golden Globes.
But, back in the early 90s, they were just an aspiring actor and a young, promising filmmaker, respectively. The role of David Wooderson was up for grabs, but McConaughey brought that sun-baked, weed-craving swagger as much to his audition as he did to the big screen. The role is quintessential McConaughey.
