  • We’ve all seen recreations of famous movie scenes done by fans, but how many of those swap gender roles? Maybe some, out of convenience, but to make a point?

SWAPPED is a new series by NYC comedian Dani Leonard and Zoe Samuel, taking scenes from iconic films and flipping the genders of the characters in an attempt to start a conversation about the limited types of roles available for women in film. The first installment in this series is the very male-driven classic American Psycho. This little Vimeo short doesn’t have the budget of a feature film, so it’s a little rough around the edges, but it certainly does make a statement. It’s jarring, in a lot of ways. Why? That’s what the series aims to discuss.
