  • I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a stronger reaction to texting during a movie than this guy’s. After one Austin citizen Brandon Vezmar took his date on a first date to see Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 he was outraged — outraged — to find his date texting all throughout the movie (or so he says, all facts of this are thus far alleged and far be it from us to besmirch an innocent citizen). He asked his date to stop texting and his date promptly left, leaving Vezmar alone to enjoy the antics of one Groot (Baby) and one Raccoon (Rocket) and others.

However, it was not over for Vezmar. So outraged was he over the incident that he ended up SUING his date for the price of the movie ticket — one $17.31. First off — boy did ticket prices go up. Oof. And Vezmar — who so many articles point out very helpfully, is 37 — demanded the money and proclaimed that the act of texting during a film is a “threat to civilized society”.

The movie’s director, James Gunn, weighed in.

  • As did others on Twitter —

  • Others pointed out however— who brings a first date to a movie? You mutant! You can’t talk to her during a movie! You weirdo!

  • As for the date — she has filed a protective order against Vezmar, which is the right choice because he is an individual currently being a giant weirdo someone over texting during a movie where a tree man and a raccoon are friends.

    Buddy. Give it up.

What do you think? Did Vezmar go too far or is he the hero we deserve? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter at @WhatsTrending.
