  • If you enjoyed The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street or Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs in the last couple of years, then you have the directing duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller to thank for that, and when they originally got pulled onto the Han Solo prequel — cowritten by Empire Strikes Back director Lawrence Kasdan of all people, and starring Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian — fans were delighted. Delighted I say! Well, bottle your delight folks — because earlier this week Lord and Miller were FIRED — for creative differences they say, writing in a statement —

“Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew.”

Reportedly the higher ups at Lucasfilms balked at Miller and Lord’s more loose and comedy related approach to the material and folks — being fired for being too silly is a very great reason to get fired. And who did the Lego Movie duo get replaced with? Why none other than Apollo 13 and Arrested Development super producer Ron Howard! Yowza! Ey! Oh! Boo!

    Booooo!

    Booooo!!!!!!

    Oh well, it happens.
