  • Sir Mix-A-Lot made a cameo at Benaroya Hall in Seattle on Friday to perform “Baby Got Back” with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra as part of the symphony’s Sonic Evolution Project.

For the past three years, the symphony has been part of this project to combine classical music with Seattle’s culture of popular music.

This year, composer Gabriel Prokofiev used “Baby Got Back” as his inspiration.

“My aim with this new Sir-Mix-A-Lot inspired Orchestral work was to really get inside the musical mind of Sir Mix-A-Lot,” Prokofiev wrote on his blog. “To understand how his rhythms, textures, sounds and harmonies worked, and to create a contemporary orchestral composition that was true to the music of Sir-Mix-A-Lot.”

As soon as the rapper took the stage, he invited the ladies up to join him. After a quick selfie, the orchestra started playing, Sir-Mix-A-Lot started rapping and the ladies started showing off their moves.

Watch the woman in the black dress take center stage and shake it!
