Museum of Modern Art to Feature First Ever Björk Retrospective

Although a spokeswoman for the museum said that the details of the installation would not be announced until the fall, the plan is to trace the arc of Bjork’s career through the seven full-length studio albums she has released since “Debut” in 1993, and to explore Bjork’s collaborations with artists, photographers and fashion designers.

Björk will co-write the retrospective with acclaimed Icelandic writer and ex-Sugarcubes member Sjón Sigurdsson, and the whole experience will culminate in a specially commissioned immersive film and music exhibit by 3D design company Autodesk and Andrew Huang, who conceived the mind-melting video for “Mutual Core”.

“Björk is an extraordinarily innovative artist whose contributions to contemporary music, video, film, fashion, and art have had a major impact on her generation worldwide,” said Klaus Biesenbach, MoMA’s chief curator at large. “This highly experimental exhibition offers visitors a direct experience of her hugely collaborative body of work.”
