T-Pain Minus Autotune Is...Really Good!

He should never put Autotune over that voice.

T-Pain is more than just The Autotune Guy, and he proves it in this Tiny Desk Concert from NPR Music. Even though he's singing songs called "Buy U A Drank (Shawty Snappin')" and "Up Down (Do This All Day)," there's a sweet and soulful nature to T-Pain's voice that we haven't heard before. With a simple keyboard accompaniment, the set has a classic, smooth R&B vibe that wouldn't seem out of place in a Los Feliz coffee house.

How did we not notice that his voice was this good the whole time? I guess it's tough to focus when Kanye's telling us to throw our hands up in the sky.

By the way, if you haven't been following NPR Music's Tiny Desk Concert series, or the channel in general, you should. The All Songs Considered podcast has all these shows, plus a huge catalog of full-length concerts. Highly recommended for days worth of free music.
