U2 was set to host a week-long residency on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, which was canceled after Bono destroyed his body riding a bike in Central Park. Here’s what happened to Bono, via Pitchfork:
…Bono fractured his eye socket, his shoulder blade, his upper arm, and his left pinky finger. The upper arm injury sounds particularly painful — his humerus bone broke into six pieces, went through his skin, and required five hours of surgery.
So, yeah, Bono is fortunate to be alive, and he’s expected to make a full recovery. Based on his need to do impressions of everyone, Jimmy Fallon filled in for Bono, and performed a cover with The Roots of U2’s “Desire,” off their 1988 album Rattle and Hum.
How badly did Fallon want to do this impression? Enough to intentionally cause a massive cycling accident in Central Park…?
