Abigail Breslin, the little girl who was nominated for an Oscar in 2006 for Little Miss Sunshine, is now 18 and has released a pop single called “You Suck.” I’ll be the first to congratulate Breslin on her bravery, as that song title opens herself up to a TON of easy criticism via Twitter and YouTube commenters.

    You see?

Now, the reason this might be seen as “childish” is because “You Suck” is ostensibly about Breslin’s ex-boyfriend, 5 Seconds of Summer member Michael Clifford. The song sounds not just a little like Taylor Swift, of whom Breslin is obviously a fan, and features her in a cowboy hat strumming a guitar.

It’s a bit uncomfortable to see a young woman, and someone we remember as a child, dedicating time to chewing out a guy, to say nothing of the other young women singing “SUH-UH-UH-UCK” repeatedly, but if “You Suck” does become the subject of Internet ridicule, I will remind you of the career trajectory of “Chinese Food” singer Alison Gold.

That’s right. We mocked her relentlessly when this song came out, and now look what a big star she is.
