We can officially add Ariana Grande to the ever-growing list of pop stars with original Christmas singles. Her new song “Santa Tell Me” has all the ingredients for a holiday hit: jingle bells, longing for love, a request for Santa, a reference to another Christmas song, fear of being alone in cold weather, not a hint of religious affiliation and lots of Christmassy words like “snow” and “mistletoe.”
And the music video is certainly no disappointment. Decked in Santa hats, Christmas sweaters, reindeer antlers and festive pajamas, Grande and friends dance around a decorated mansion and everything looks warm and fun. Don’t worry though, there’s still plenty of booty shaking and gettin’ low — this is still Ariana Grande after all.
So where will this new festive hit, “Santa Tell Me” fall? Probably after Madonna’s “Santa Baby” and Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” but definitely before Justin Bieber’s “Mistletoe” and ‘N Sync’s “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays.” Get excited to hear this song a million times on the radio for the rest of December!
