  • If you haven’t heard the name ZAYN before, you should probably get accustomed to hearing it. Last night, the 23-year-old dropped his debut album, “Mind Of Mine”, and the fans (old and new) are already freaking out.

Over the past few months, Zayn has been releasing a few singles off of this masterpiece, and each and every song has been a hit on the chart. What may be the most anticipated album of the year is certainly living up to its name, featuring chart toppers like “PILLOWTALK” and “BeFoUr”. Now that the album is officially out, I think it’s safe to say it’s worth the listen. All 18 tracks. Seriously, listen to this album all the way through, you won’t regret it.

I think the reason why I like this album so much is because every track sounds so well thought out, and each song seamlessly connects to one another. Zayn’s style and voice has a unique R&B twist to it, bringing me back to Chris Brown’s early days. With effortless falsettos, riffs, and runs, it’s clear this guy’s got talent.

Halfway through the album is a song titled “INTERMISSION: fLoWer”, which is a hauntingly beautiful track sung in Urdu, a language commonly spoken in Pakistan, where Malik’s roots stem from. Something about this song makes me feel connected to the singer. Zayn is introducing a part of his family’s culture into his music, which is something that most artists would be afraid to do.

Overall, “Mind Of Mine” is an extremely chill album. There are a ton of songs that you can definitely bump to in the club, but there are just as many songs you can listen to while driving alone through the night, sinking deep into your own thoughts.

Zayn Malik’s album is now available to purchase on iTunes. Or, if you have Apple Music or Spotify, you can stream it right away. Enjoy it. It’s an album that’ll change the way you listen to music.
