After delivering the performance of a lifetime, Celine Dion found herself surprised by her son at the Billboard Music Awards last night.
Dion was stunned to receive her Icon Award from her son Rene Charles saying onstage, “I’m so sorry. I — I’m sorry for crying. I want to be strong for my family and my kids. And I didn’t expect that. I’m so sorry. I don’t want to cry in front of you. You make me so happy. Thank you.”
Emotionally charged, Dion thanks her fans, her family, and her late husband whom “I know will continue to watch over me from up above.”
Dion tragically lost both her husband and her brother within two days of each other this past January. Her BBMA performance marked the first time the singer took to the stage since the tragedy.
