Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar Shock at BET Awards

Beyoncé shocking the world should no longer be shocking, and yet...

  • Beyoncé never stops amazing, and that will likely continue to be true up until the entire world goes up in flames from whatever version of the apocalypse comes our way. And even then, should any humanity survive or return, one day they will find a remaining glance of Beyoncé’s world and human civilization itself will be restored. Well, a much better version of civilization, probably.

And if that remaining glance is a copy of the surprise BET Awards performance Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar gave of “Freedom” off her Lemonade album? All the better.

The awards show opened with Beyoncé’s dancers filing through the audience, leading up to the Queen herself on a section of the stage covered in water, allowing for a phenomenal rendition of her song complete with water-stomp choreography and Kendrick Lamar rising up from underneath the stage. Thanks to this, every awards show for the rest of the year is going to wish they were the BET Awards, and none of them will be.
