Childish Gambino Is Back With New Album, 'Awaken, My Love!'

The musician debuts a dramatically new sound in his first album in 2 years.

  • Christmas is coming early for hip-hop fans this year. Not only did Childish Gambino just release a new album entitled Awaken, My Love! after 2 years, but… J. Cole, Kid Cudi, and Drake are all set to release projects later this month as well.

  • I don't know what we did to deserve this, but I sure am excited.

Gambino's new album is his first major release since Because the Internet in 2013. Since then, Donald Glover has had great success outside of music with his show Atlanta on FX, and even on the big screen, landing the role of young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo Star Wars film.

If you're expecting this new album to be anything like his last, think again. In a recent interview with Billboard, Glover revealed that he looked to his parents a lot for inspiration when writing the new record.

Haven't had a chance to hear the new album yet? No worries. You can check it out below:

  • “Awaken, My Love!”
  • Despite the change in genre, a majority (if not all) of Gambino's fans are loving the album. It's like this guy can do no wrong.
