With the end of “True Blood” approaching, it is clear to fans that the cast has become expendable. This was made clear when Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello) was shot to death in the closing moments of the third episode of Season 7.
It was a shocking twist, which devastated Alcide fans. No one expected it, except for Manganiello himself. “I read the finale of last season and the first thought I had was, ‘They’re gonna kill Alcide,’” the star told People Magazine.
Dedicated fans of the show admit that they understand why it had to be done. As Manganiello put it, “Alcide was in the way….You can’t really have Sookie [Anna Paquin] break his heart because he’s a good guy and he loves her. So the only thing left to do is kill him.”
While Manganiello is sad to have parted ways from his character, he was quick to joke that on the night the producers took him out to deliver the news of his character’s impending death, he simply said, “I called it” and ordered the biggest steak on the menu.
