A jetliner with 116 people onboard disappeared early this morning. The passengers were en route to Algeria when the crew was asked to make a detour due to poor visibility. It was after the plane had adjusted its course that it disappeared from radar.
The plane carried passengers from Algeria, Mali, Belgium, Luxembourg, Burkina Faso, France, Germany, Nigeria, Cameroon, Libya, Egypt, Ukraine, Romania and Switzerland, according to a statement from Swiftair.
This is the third major aviation incident in a week, Bloomberg notes.
