Did Reggie Bush Admit To Hitting His Infant Daughter?

How exactly does one “harshly” discipline a one-year-old? No mashed peas for a week? Cutting down her daily slobber quota? Whatever Reggie Bush meant while commenting on the Adrian Peterson situation, he certainly has stirred up controversy on the radio show Bob’s Blitz, when he said the following:

I most definitely discipline my daughter. I have a 1-year-old daughter, and I discipline her. Obviously, every person is different, and I definitely will use my best judgement to discipline her depending on the situation and what happens. I definitely will try to obviously not leave bruises or anything like that on her, but I definitely will discipline her, harshly, depending on what the situation is.

Within hours of blog posts starting to appear, Bush backed off the “harshly” language, telling ESPN:

“Obviously I’m not going to be spanking a 1-year-old girl. We do discipline her a little bit because she does this thing now where if she doesn’t like something of if you say something to her she doesn’t like, she kind of swings at you.

“So we’re already starting to implement little things like talking to her and saying that’s not OK. I think obviously people took it too far and [said] I was doing much worse and that’s not the case.”

So, clearly, Bush is now denying that he would ever hit his child. However, it still makes his initial response to the question confusing. Here’s what he was asked on Bob’s Blitz: “Would you use that method of punishment to a four-year-old or five-year-old…?”

“That method” is the method that Adrian Peterson used on his child, which is to beat them with a switch until they bleed. Therefore, the correct answer to the question Bush was asked is “No. That is horrible. Fuck you for even thinking I would be capable of such a thing.”

But, what Reggie Bush said was, “I most definitely discipline my daughter.” Is that evidence that Reggie Bush is now lying, and is using physical intimidation on his infant daughter? Of course not. It’s just strange that when asked the question if he would beat a four-year-old kid, leaving bruises that remain weeks later, he did not respond with the correct answer, which is “No.” He responded with “I most definitely discipline my daughter.”
