Yes, it’s true. “Saved by the Bell” star Dustin Diamond – aka Screech – has been arrested. The charges include possession of a switchblade, carrying a concealed weapon and recklessly endangering safety. Honestly, that last one should just be assumed of Screech all the time, right? “Recklessly Endangering Safety” is his middle name.

(OK, yes, “Screech” is technically his middle name. The character’s full name is Samuel “Screech” Powers. It’s just an expression!)

The arrest went down Friday morning in Ozaukee County, outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, though not much more has been reported about what was actually going on. For example, why police happened upon Screech, why he had a switchblade and why all of these people would choose to be in Wisconsin in December.

Diamond was previously arrested in 2009 after failing to pay around $2,000 in utility bills. So, you know, he’s got that going for him. Which is nice.

  • UPDATE!

We have some new information about ScreechGate 2014 coming in. Apparently, actor Dustin Diamond was involved in a stabbing incident in a bar called the Grand Avenue Saloon near his home in Port Washington, Wisconsin.

Diamond and girlfriend Amanda Schutz were inside the bar when some kind of altercation broke out. According to the actor’s testimony, he went to get the couple’s coats and returned to find his girlfriend being held by two men in a threatening manner, and bleeding. Diamond goes on to say that another man grabbed him, prompting him to stab the individual with a switchblade knife he had on him.

According to the police report, Diamond said he did not intentionally stab anyone with his stiletto folding knife, but did it accidentally amidst all the chaos. He is currently being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond. There is still no clear word on what started the brawl to begin with.
